His name is actually Raden Mas Soewardi Soerjaningrat ( Ki Hajar Dewantara, some written with the Javanese language ‘Ki Hajar Dewantoro’  born in Yogyakarta, May 2, 1889 -died in Yogyakarta, 26 April 1959 at the age of 69 years, here in after abbreviated as "Soewardi" or "KHD" ) which is one of the descendants of Nyi Ageng Serang is Indonesia's independence movement activist, columnist, politician, and pioneer of education for the natives of Indonesia from the Dutch colonial era. He is the founder of Taman Siswa University, an institution that provides opportunities for the indigenous masses to get the right to education as well as the gentry or the Dutch people.
